"Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) back to the Knockdhu distillery in Aberdeenshire, Scotland for a 9-yearl-old from 2014 cask #170350 selected and bottled by Single Cask Nation. It opens with syrupy dried cherries, blood oranges, dark chocolate, and sherry-soaked double-fruit fruitcake; followed by freshly-cracked black pepper, spicy ginger, charred oak, and dark roast coffee; finishing with Black Forest dark chocolate cake with raspberry syrup, garnished with candied orange peel. This is the ultimate dessert-in-a-glass. I could drink this until I’m in a dessert coma. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often."
