The Hearts Collection is Appleton Estate’s annual series of ultra-limited, vintage-dated, pot-still Jamaican rums, hand-selected by Master Blender Joy Spence (in collaboration with Luca Gargano) from the distillery’s rare tropical-aged stocks. This 1998 vintage was distilled in 1998, aged 25 years in Jamaica, and bottled at approximately 63% ABV (126 proof).

Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas begin with rich vanilla and warm butterscotch, generous dried tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple, dark chocolate, coffee-bean roast, ginger and molasses. Oak influence is deep yet well-integrated. 
Palate: Full-bodied and complex — dried dark fruits (plum, fig), citrus peel (orange/mandarin), maple syrup sweetness, robust oak spice (clove, cinnamon), leather and tobacco-leaf depth, balanced with the pot-still Jamaican character of tropical fruit and subtle funk. 
Finish: Long, warming and elegant: lingering vanilla, toasted oak, dark chocolate, subtle saline/jamaican rum “terroir” hint, and a refined long-tail of spice and fruit.
