Description
Doc Swinson’s Alter Ego High Proof Triple Cask Bourbon is a bold, limited-release straight bourbon whiskey showcasing Doc Swinson’s signature multi-cask finishing technique. Released in Summer 2022, this higher-proof expression is bottled at 114.6 Proof (57.3% ABV) to emphasize the character of its finishing casks.
The bourbon is sourced from MGP and blended from two mash bills: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley and 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley. The bourbon is initially matured for approximately five years in American white oak before being finished separately in Ex-Cognac, Pedro Ximénez Sherry, and Oloroso Sherry casks. The finished components are then blended and married in ex-Cognac foeders before bottling.
The nose and palate showcase rich layers of marzipan, dark cherries, whipped cream, allspice, caramel, and rich oak tannins, with the Sherry and Cognac casks adding dried-fruit richness, nuttiness, sweetness, and depth.
Bottled at 114.6 Proof (57.3% ABV), this cask-strength bourbon is an excellent choice for collectors and whiskey enthusiasts seeking a rich, high-proof bourbon with an innovative Sherry and Cognac cask finish.
