Elio Grasso Barolo Gavarini Chiniera 2018 is a distinguished single-vineyard Barolo DOCG from Monforte d’Alba in Piedmont, Italy. Made from 100% Nebbiolo, Gavarini Chiniera is a south-facing vineyard at approximately 350–400 meters elevation, planted on limestone-based, slightly sandy soils.
The 2018 vintage is particularly expressive and elegant, showing aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, strawberry, plum, blood orange, rose, licorice, tar and delicate spice, with bright acidity, fine tannins and a lingering mineral finish. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated the 2018 96 points, while James Suckling gave it 95 points and Wine Spectator 93 points.
The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and matured in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by bottle aging before release
